Atlantic Fellowship accelerates Fellows' capacity to drive systems-level change toward fairer, healthier more inclusive societies. Learn more about the stories of impact and the commitment and passion that drive our Fellows’ work.

Building a catalytic, lifelong community of leaders

Completing an Atlantic Fellowship and then becoming part of the Atlantic Fellows community is transformative, both to individual Fellows but also as Fellows propel change beyond themselves by working with their organizations and communities. Atlantic Fellowship has a ripple effect. Impact begins with transformative learning for Fellows, who catalyze social and societal change individually or in collaboration and their actions ultimately contribute to fairer, healthier and more inclusive societies.

Transformative learning

Atlantic Fellowship delivers content and experiences that stimulate critical analysis and debate amongst Fellows which is inclusive and productive and leads to transformative outcomes. Fellows participate in leadership curricula, convenings and residencies and have the compassion and courage to understand, be open to, and be changed by others’ perspectives and experiences. Fellows acquire new insights, skills and understandings about themselves and the root causes of inequities while constantly reflecting and evolving strategies to make the world a more equitable place.

Bridging and collaboration

The Atlantic Institute and the seven programs convene Fellows to connect across programs, strengthening a sense of belonging to the Atlantic Fellows community. As Fellows connect, they share learning and knowledge while bridging differences and committing to action. They identify equity issues of importance, specify problems to be addressed, design approaches and combine efforts across disciplines and geographies. Having reimagined how values-based leadership can create systematic change, they apply knowledge and test strategies to reduce inequities.

Catalyzing systemic change

Fellows are introduced to a wider ecosystem, including Rhodes Scholars and other values-led global Fellows. Together they organise support to enact social and systemic change, while applying new perspectives, creativity, leadership, knowledge, insight, skills and/or capabilities in their work with their communities and or in the organizations they lead or serve. Fellows actively work together to change social structures, achieve policy changes, shift narratives, build movements, change their own professional practices, and influence the allocation of resources.

Achieving societal impact

Atlantic Fellows and their wider equity ecosystems, including their communities and organizations address the underlying systemic causes of inequities locally, regionally and globally. Fellows contribute to systems-level reductions in inequities through policy change, narrative change and new solutions. Examples of Fellows' impact include but is not limited to improved access to health, dental care, vaccine equity, protected rights, improved livelihoods and land rights, reduced deaths from preventable diseases, food security, and support for displaced communities.
