We are delighted that following a consultation with the Atlantic Fellows community we are working with the Oxford University Press on a new publication, “The Equity Review.” The Atlantic Institute is developing "The Equity Review" as a biennial open-access publication that will serve as a leading voice in global conversations about equity. Through transformative dialogue, "The Equity Review" will connect researchers, practitioners, and communities directly impacted by inequities, providing essential insights and innovative solutions that bring lasting improvements to people’s lives by addressing the causes of systemic challenges. This flagship publication will blend research, lived experiences, and expert analysis to advance equity, offering different perspectives on climate change, health, race, social and economic inequality, and more. The first edition of the Review will focus on how we move toward a fair and equitable shift to a greener world.
We will invite article submissions from change-makers, researchers, and individuals with lived or professional experience in the area of focus, ensuring that each contribution balances evidence-based insights with real-world perspectives. We hope to include contributions from Atlantic Fellows, whose diverse perspectives enable them to explore the root causes of inequities, and contributions from changemakers from other values-aligned fellowships.
To ensure “The Equity Review” remains impactful and relevant, an advisory group is being established to provide strategic direction, expert insights and guidance. The publication is designed to engage change-makers, academics, government and policy organizations, civil society groups, philanthropic networks, and the media. Its online presence on Oxford Academic will be a foundation for testing and pioneering innovative publishing methods, expanding beyond traditional platforms to reach new audiences.
The first issue is set to launch in October 2026, followed by a conference in 2027 to deepen understanding of the issue’s theme.
As a next step, we seek to commission a researcher to conduct a rapid literature review to inform the first edition. We are inviting proposals to summarize key academic and grey literature related to achieving a fair and equitable transition to a green future. This review will identify and synthesize literature that explores how to drive a sustainable, just, inclusive and beneficial shift for all communities, with a particular focus on the most vulnerable populations.
